The origins of the town hall date back to the 19th century. Until 2017 many Sorbian and German cultural events took place in the town hall.
The history of this building dates back to the 19th century when the hotel "Zur goldenen Krone" was completed. This included a ballroom, which quickly established itself as a popular meeting place for Sorbian events. After surviving both world wars undamaged it had to move to a new socialist building in 1967. In 1995 the event hall was privatised and reopened. Numerous Sorbian and German cultural events took place in the city hall until 2017. These included the "Schadźowanka", an annual meeting of Sorbian students now and then. In 2018 the city of Bautzen acquired the property. Mehr
