On the Sorbs' traces in Bautzen
Sorbian school on the Wendischer Graben

The building of the children's and youth library is one of the oldest sorbian school locations. For a generation, Sorbian children were taught here.

In 2016 the Sorbian could look back on 70 years of independent activity. The building at Buttermarkt was one of the most important elements. Since 1948 it has for more than 25 years accomodated the "Serbska šula" - the Sorbian school. In 1973 the lessons were continued in the newly built Sorbian Polytechnic Secondary School. There, for the first time, Sorbian pupils had the opportunity to be taught from the first to the twelfth grade. Today the building at Buttermarkt serves as the children's and youth library of the city of Bautzen. Mehr
