Brother congregation Kleinwelka

The history of the local brother congregation goes back to the middle of the 18th century. Today the property is used for a variety of purposes.

The roots of the brother congregation in Kleinwelka go back to Matthäus Lange. In the middle of the 18th century he accepted the Teichnitz congregation members in the former manor. Within a very short time, the estate developed into the pietistic centre of the Sorbs of Upper and Lower Lusatia. The life in the congregation was characterised by communal living and working. In total, the complex consisted of 6 buildings and the was characterised by community life and work. Today the former manor in the centre of Kleinwelka houses the nursing home "Dora-Schmitt-Haus" of the Herrnhuter Deaconry. During the summer, the sisters' houses are used for cultural events and individual overnight accommodations. Mehr
